Norman Fire Department receives unique CPR training

NORMAN, Oklahoma — The Norman Fire Department received a rather unique form of CPR training last Friday. The fire department hosted a Basic Animal Rescue Training (BART) course where they practiced CPR on cat and dog dummies. BART is a non-profit organization that trains EMS providers to be better prepared in dealing with animals on scene. The course consisted of the following three stations:

  • Handling and restraining
  • Resuscitation
  • Determining heart rate and respiratory rate
